Thomas BAENZIGER, a Swiss citizen, holds an engineering degree of Zurich School of Engineering. He is the CEO of EE-Consulting AG Switzerland, Chairman of the CIE (International Commission on Illumination, based in Vienna) Technical Committee TC4-62, developing the new recommendations for Adaptive Road Lighting (ARL) and a member of TC4-43 concerned with Road Tunnel Lighting and Tunnel Lighting Controls. Thomas has 25 years of experience in Road and Tunnel Lighting Control, he has been lecturing at numerous universities and presented papers, including at the IEEE, ITS and the CIE at 20+ conferences in 4 continents. Today Adaptive Road Lighting and the integration of Road Lighting into the Smart City Platform as well as the sustainability of Road Lighting in general are Thomas’ major interests. He advises governments, consultants and private investors on these topics. Feasibility studies and the design of such systems are today his main activities.

Jacques Letzelter is Executive Vice President of the Public customer segment at Signify, formerly known as Philips Lighting, the global leader in lighting. Jacques previously held the position of Senior Vice President, Office & Industry segment. His focus is on innovation in connected & smart lighting systems for municipalities, sports, road and transportation infrastructures, and on growing the adoption and value of lighting systems. Jacques also leads the Telensa business unit, the Interact program of Signify. He is an independent director of a couple of companies in iot connectivity and sensors.
Jacques joined the lighting industry in 2013 as Vice President, End User sales and Solution Center, and was based in France.
Prior to joining Philips Lighting, Jacques had an international career with Schneider Electric, where he held various global leadership positions as CTO Power, CEO GTCI in Research & Development, and as head of 3 Business Units: Customers Solution, Energy Management and Low Voltage Power.
In April 2011, Jacques was appointed Chief Technology Officer of Schneider Electric’s global Project & Engineering Center for Oil & Gas, Commercial Buildings & Mining verticals. Jacques also held various engineering positions in France and the United States, where he created safety-related embedded products, software, and systems innovations.
Jacques holds a Masters degree in Electronics Engineering with École Centrale de Paris (1993), a Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering with SUPELEC (1998), a Master’s degree in Strategic Business Management with ICG (2013) and is a trained Independent Director from INSEAD (IDP 2019). Jacques was born in France in 1970.

A highly experienced lighting designer with over 16 years’ industry experience, Ahmed has worked on a diverse range of projects including lighting masterplans, infrastructure, public realm, heritage, and civic schemes. He has designed architectural lighting schemes for some of the Middle East’s most iconic buildings and gained industry awards and accolades for his work on Dubai’s International Financial District (Gate Village), 25hours Hotel Dubai One Central, and Midtown Mall in Riyadh.
Ahmed’s ability to reconcile the creative aspirations for project with the technical elements of the design, is the result of a career spent working for both independent lighting design consultancies and large engineering firms. In his role as Projects Director at Nulty, he oversees every single project to ensure that the practice’s schemes continue to push boundaries and elevate the client’s final design.

In 2016, ENGIE set a new corporate body to support the 24 business units called “metier” where he was appointed as Vice President of the Midstream Gas Chain activities to support their expansions including new gas such as biogas and hydrogen.
In 2019, Louis-Frédéric Robin became the Head of Smart Cities and infrastructure (including public lighting) for ENGIE Group. He leads the strategy, the development and the urban innovation activities towards decarbonising territories and make them sustainable.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture from her home country in Serbia, she then decided to pursue her carrier in lighting design and obtained a master’s degree in Architectural Lighting Design from Wismar University in Germany.
In her professional career since 2014, she worked on a wide selection of projects including hospitality, retail, theme parks, public realm, and high-end residential towers in the USA and the Middle East.
She handles her projects through all stages, from concept design to site supervision, combining a creative mindset and technical knowledge for successfully completed projects.
Jelena is an active member of The Lighting Institute, “TLI”, an award-winning educational institution in the lighting field, and spends her free time spreading awareness about the importance of lighting design through their educational courses. She always works towards finding new and creative ways to help TLI grow and get recognized in the design, architecture, and interior design fields.
A hobby and a passion besides everyday work duties, for Jelena, is creating visualizations in Photoshop focusing on showing the aesthetic impact of light in our surroundings.
